Paris in Literature</a> (PDF)<br> Will Bishop received his PhD in French from the University of California, Berkeley in December, 2003. His dissertation addresses questions of translation in texts by Beckett, Genet, Celan and Rimbaud. Several sections of his dissertation have been published in the journal <em>diacritics</em> (35:4 2005) as an article on &quot;The Marriage Translation and the Contexts of Common Life: From the PACS to Benjamin and Beyond&quot;. He has taught French language and literature classes at the University of California, Berkeley, at the UC Center program, and a course on translation at Columbia University's program in Paris at Reid Hall. He is Academic Coordinator for the Center&rsquo;s Summer and Fall Programs in French and European Studies. </p> <div class="tothetop" align="right"><img src="../../../img/top_arrow.gif" width="13" height="7"><a href="#top">TOP</a><br /> </div> <p><strong>Christopher Bo&iuml;cos</strong><a name="boicos" id="boicos"></a><br> <a href="history_french_art.pdf" target="_self">PCC 125. French Art 1715-1914</a> (PDF)<br> Chris Bo&iuml;cos received his Mphil from the Courtauld Institute of Art at the University of London in 1982 and studied for two years in the doctoral program of the University of Paris I, Sorbonne. His thesis subject was &quot;The Caf&eacute;-concert, the Fairground and the Circus in French Painting, 1875-1890.&quot; He has been teaching art history for American University programs in Paris since 1989 notably for the University of Southern California, the University of Delaware and CUPA a center for American students from Ivy League schools. Chris Bo&iuml;cos has been involved in the contemporary art world, first as art critic in the 1980&#8217;s and then as curator of numerous gallery exhibitions in Paris and abroad. He is founder and partner of the Galerie Beckel Odille Bo&iuml;cos which opened near the Bastille in 1999 He is currently curating an important exhibition of the work of the American painter William Utermohlen (1933-2007) for the Chicago Cultural Center for the summer of 2008.</p> <div class="tothetop" align="right"><img src="../../../img/top_arrow.gif" width="13" height="7"><a href="#top">TOP</a></div> <p><strong>Marc CERISUELO</strong><a name="cerisuelo" id="cerisuelo"></a><br> <a href="french_cinema.pdf">PCC 120. French Cinema</a> (PDF)<br> Marc Cerisuelo studied and taught Literature, Philosophy and Film. He received his Ph.D in Film Studies at the University of Paris III, and is Professor of Film Studies at the University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I). A specialist of Godard, film criticism, film poetics and of the relations between literature, philosophy and film, he is the author of several books. Cultural Identities in France</a> (PDF)<br> <strong><em>French Society and Politics</em></strong><br> St&eacute;phane Dufoix received his Ph.D. in Political Science at the University of Paris I. As well as being member of the Institut universitaire de France, he is Associate Professor in the Sociology Department at Nanterre. A specialist on immigration and asylum, he has taught for UC Paris since 2002. He has written two books, <em>Politiques d'Exil: Hongrois, Polonais et Tch&eacute;coslovaques en France apr&egrave;s 1945</em> (Paris: PUF, 2002); and <em>Les diasporas</em> (Paris: PUF, 2003), and is co-editor (with Patrick Weil) of <em>L'esclavage, la Colonisation et apr&egrave;s..</em>. (Paris, PUF, 2005). He is currently a research associate at the Centre d'Histoire Sociale du XX&egrave;me si&egrave;cle (CNRS-Paris- I) and, with Sylvie Aprile, has just published <em>Les mots de l&rsquo;immigration</em>, (Paris, Belin, 2009). </p> <div class="tothetop" align="right"><img src="../../../img/top_arrow.gif" width="13" height="7"><a href="#top">TOP</a></div> <p> <strong>Mariam HABIBI </strong><a name="habibi" id="habibi"></a><br> <a href="eu_integration.pdf" target="_self">PCC 115. France and European Integration</a> (PDF)<br> Mariam Habibi received her doctorat from the Institut d&rsquo;Etudes Politiques de Paris in 2000 with a dissertation on French Diplomacy in early twentieth century Persia, published by L'Harmattan in 2004. She received a PhD, magna cum laude, from the European Graduate School in Switzerland where she studied with Jean Baurdillard and others. Her curatorial projects include Eispavillon for the Swiss Alps, represented at Art Unlimited/Art Basel, and Terminal 5 for JFK Airport, included in Artforum's "Best of 2004." Paradigme racial et idéologie républicaine</em>, Paris, PUF, 2006, <em>Races, racisme et antiracisme dans les années 1930</em>, PUF, 2007. She has taught History at the University of Franche-Comte and University of New York, Paris.
